DePaul Family Services Day at the Roanoke Dazzle Basketball game!
Roanoke, VA - Saturday, February 18 was DePaul Family Services Day at the Roanoke Dazzle Basketball game. The game started with a welcome from DePaul Family Services Executive Director, Sue Bentley and then it was time to cheer on the home team. Over 60 of the fans in attendance were DePaul's families and clients, some of whom traveled from more than 50 miles away.
Many of the families that attended were from DePaul Family Services' foster care program. This event was one of many support activities that DePaul Family Services provides to its families. "We are very excited we were able to partner with the Roanoke Dazzle" said Bentley. "Many of the children in our foster care program have had difficult lives, so this is one way we can bring some joy to their day."

Not only was this a day
of basketball, the Dazzle game served as a chance to educate fans about the importance
of foster parents. Announcements throughout the game, as well as information tables
were used to encourage those in attendance to become foster parents. "Unfortunately,
there are still so many children in the system and there just are not enough homes out
there. We are always looking for more people to open their homes and their hearts to
children in need" said Bentley. |
