Community Volunteer Project May and June were very busy months for our 30 years, 3000 hours community service campaign. Our goal was for our staff, clients, foster parents and care providers to perform 3000 hours of community service this year. On May 5th, at the Staff Appreciation Picnic, Sue Bentley was pleased to announce that we had already reached our goal with more than 7 months left in the year! However, we didn't stop there. To date, over 4,440 hours have been performed. The staff at DePaul even chose to work on the campaign at the picnic by supporting the Roanoke and Christiansburg offices' Relay For Life teams. In an effort to help raise money for the fight against cancer, each member of DePaul's management team volunteered to participate in a "Pie-in-the-Face" Contest. Throughout the day, staff members put money into boxes that had the management team members' pictures on the front. At the end of the day, the money was counted and the three people who had the most money in their boxes had a pie thrown in their face. The big winners of the day were Tom Hall (TFC Program Director), Michele Dollberg (HR Administrator), and Debbie McIvor (Developmental Disabilities Program Director). All three took their pies proudly! The money raised was split evenly between the two Relay teams, who took part in their events on June 15th. The Relay For Life events were not the only activities taking place over the last two months. On June 3rd, the Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, and Waynesboro offices teamed up to clean-up a park. On June 27, staff from the Roanoke office took part in Habitat For Humanity house building project. In addition, the OPTIONS Day Support Centers have continued their dedication to the project with their various activities, including working at day care centers, assisting local churches, and delivering Meals-on-Wheels. The end of June also marks the end of our second quarter for our 3000 hours campaign. Congratulations to the following for winning this quarter's awards:
