Foster Parent Spotlight: The Sellers family in Christiansburg has worked with our agency for 10 years. They have shown a good knowledge of attachment-based parenting and are able to use the latest parenting techniques with the kids placed in their home. We would like to recognize Mark and Becky Sellers for the fine work they have done with children in our foster care program. In 2008, they will have been foster parents with DePaul Family Services for 10 years. Becky’s sister, Rachel Schweibert, also serves as a foster parent through our Roanoke office. All three have prevailed over many challenging situations. Mark and Becky fit the definition of “professional foster parents” in that they are able to use the latest parenting techniques and tips with the children placed in their home. Becky has demonstrated her knowledge of attachment-based parenting with the child currently placed with their family, and has shown patience and tolerance consistently! The birth children in the home, Lauren, Micah, and Abram, have welcomed DePaul children as well, as the Sellers family has had foster children placed in their home for most of their birth children’s lives. The Sellerses are a family that can be counted upon to take their role seriously. They go above and beyond in making sure the children placed with them receive the utmost attention to their needs and the Sellerses always offer a loving and nurturing home. They maintain a high level of commitment to the children in their home, and time and again have been able to do so in the midst of dealing with situations that would test the best families. We are so glad to have the Sellerses with us in Christiansburg and would like to offer our sincerest thanks for all they have done and are able to do!
