New South Boston Service Location DePaul Family Services expands with a new office in Halifax to serve areas east of Danville with Treatment Foster Care and Clinical Services. This past winter our organization was asked by the Department of Social Services in Halifax County to consider opening an office in that locality. Having several children in DePaul Family Services' Treatment Foster Care and Clinical Services programs from the county over the years, Sue Bentley welcomed the invitation. This office will allow DePaul Family Services to serve additional areas east of Danville, specifically Charlotte, Lunenburg, and Mecklenburg counties and the towns and cities within. The location is a free standing building on the shopping center property of Halifax Square off Route 501 in South Boston. Once opened, the office will initially be staffed by workers from the Danville TFC office. DePaul currently has one foster family in Mecklenburg and three families in Halifax. Kimberly Burrows, Director of Business and Development shared that a number of newspaper and radio ads have been placed in those areas to attract potential foster homes. Tom Morris, Danville's DePaul Family Services' Branch Director is traveling the area promoting our organization. Tom and several foster parents have already given two presentations to local groups in Halifax and Mecklenburg counties. Tom has spoken to several local residents at a number of small family owned stores and is encouraged by the initial interest. If you have friends in churches, civic groups, professional organizations, unions or businesses that meet regularly and need a speaker, Tom Morris would be happy to share the joy and mission of being a foster parent with DePaul Family Services. Tom would especially like to speak to groups from the Town of Boydton, Charlotte County, Chase City, Town of Clarksville, Danville City, Town of Halifax, Halifax County, Lunenburg County, Mecklenburg County, Pittsylvania County and the City of South Boston.
