Adoption Workbook |
The Workbook for Parents Adopting Older Children was originally prepared as a special project of the Quality Improvement Center on Adoption in 2005. It’s a short (20 page) booklet, in which parents fill in the blanks in order to gather pertinent information about their child’s history. The booklet details information that needs to be gathered when preparing either parents or children for adoption. This booklet is not particularly for specific work with children, except that it could be filled out and given to an adoptive family as a last resort (ideally the parents need to be taking the journey through the booklet themselves).

High-Resolution file.
Recommended for cable and
broadband services.

Adoption DVD |
Two years ago, the DePaul Adoption Program partnered with Carol Burch-Brown, an art professor and independent filmmaker at VA Tech to create a film about adoption from the foster care system. The idea was to tell the story of this very serious social issue by giving a strong voice to the children themselves.
The stories told by these remarkable children and their families are different from stereotypical and often negative media images that give communities misinformation about adopting a foster child. Click here to read more.
